Batman: under the red hood 2020

Batman: Death in the Family is a 2020 American animated interactive short film based on the story of the same name. It is a sequel to Batman: Under The Red Hood and was released on Blu-ray and DVD on October 13, 2020.

If Robin dies, the events of Batman: Under The Red Hood unfold naturally. A guilt-ridden Ra’s al Ghul uses the Lazarus Pit to resurrect Jason, who becomes Red Hood and wages war against Batman and Black Mask, which ultimately leads to Black Mask freeing the Joker from Arkham Asylum. Red Hood captures the Joker and forces Batman to decide between killing the Joker or him. Batman manages to avoid killing either of them, but Red Hood disappears. Bruce offers a summary of events to Clark Kent, who praises Bruce for his bravery in facing his inner demons and offers his help in finding Jason.

Jason tries to keep his promise to Bruce not to kill the criminals he fights. To attract the Joker’s attention, Jason adopts Red Hood’s former persona of the Clown Prince of Crime and wages a bloody war in Gotham’s criminal underworld. He finally manages to draw the Joker out of hiding and defeats him in a fight. The Joker is delighted by what Jason has become and says that Jason is now more his successor than Batman. Jason, who has been repressing his memories of killing criminals, suddenly realizes what he has done. The viewer gets to decide once again whether Jason chooses to kill the Joker or not.

A must-see. What a savagery this new confrontation of the bat-man and the Joker. Intense from beginning to end. The 5/5 is not enough to express how good this comic is. SPECTACULAR.

Every time I go to read a batman story where the Joker has a predominant role I get defensive. There have been so many story arcs that these two have shared that I think it’s impossible for any writer to come up with something new. Well, Snyder has achieved it, he’s practically had me gripped to the armchair from the first page, although I have to admit that Capullo’s drawing has also helped, an artist I like everything except his last name.

He is also the author of the short story collection, Voodoo Heart, published by the Dial Press in 2006. The paperback version was published in the summer of 2007.
